Canadian cultural department store Indigo invited Wedge to creative direct and design their 25th Anniversary special edition book collection. Featuring best selling titles such as “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Sapiens,” “The English Patient,” “An Astronaut’s Guide To Life on Earth”, and more, hand in hand with Harper Collins, Penguin, and other publishers.
Our Approach— Create a collectable, covetable, and culturally talk-worthy series by pairing the works of 25 iconic authors with emerging and established fine Canadian painters.
Our team carefully curated a diverse representation of artists across the country, pairing their works with relevant titles based on shared subjects, themes, cultural ties, or values.
Artworks are framed by 3 distinct shapes that act as “windows into a story.” The key shapes intentionally signify genres: Novel, Biography, or History. The collection is united by an Indigo Blue spine, the brand’s signature color, each featuring a unique symbol from the story.
Special thanks to the wonderful Indigo Team for their love of beautiful ideas, to the authors (with a special shoutout to astronaut Chris Hadfield who shared photographs of Earth from space with our team!), and to the following amazing artists for their open collaboration: Aman Aheer, Bianca Roco, Christian Morisseau, Dan Climan, Dana Slijboom, Elizabeth McIntosh, Francorama, George Littlechild, Jean Paul Langlois, Katty Maurey, Ness Lee, Scott Sueme.
